SCHENECTADY, NY – July 19, 2016 – SI Group, a leading global developer and manufacturer of chemical intermediates, specialty resins, and solutions, has announced today the appointment of Nortex, a well-established distributor with decades of experience marketing SI Group products, as the lead distributor of SI Group rubber resins in the CIS region (Commonwealth of Independent States).
This move follows SI Group’s earlier decision to end its participation in LLC URALCHIMPLAST – SI GROUP, a Russian-based joint venture company that was established to distribute friction, abrasives, and rubber resin products in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other CIS countries. In light of developments that were not foreseen at the time the joint venture was established, including new regulatory challenges affecting all U.S. companies operating in Russia, SI Group and its former joint venture partner agreed that SI Group would transfer its interest in the joint venture company to its partner. Therefore, SI Group and UCP will return to marketing and distributing their respective products in the CIS region separately, with SI Group continuing to offer rubber resin products through Nortex distribution. This change is effective July 27, 2016.
Nortex is one of the market leaders in the distribution of chemical products in Russia and CIS countries. Nortex has concentrated their activities in the import of chemical raw materials from leading European and Asian manufacturers.
