The Role:

Performs simple to complex laboratory operations for the development of new products, procedures and test methods plus troubleshooting existing ones within their functional area. Ability to suggest alternative or supporting approaches within the scope of the laboratory operations conducted within the functional area. Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills in organic chemistry and polymer science. Regarded as a key solution provider to internal and external customers.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Key Job Responsibility 1: R&D – Lab process work

• Performs simple to complex experiments under minimal supervision.

• Independently conducts simple and routine analytical qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical testing.

• Operate analytical instrumentation such as GC, HPLC, GPC, ball and ring, etc.

• Must be able to work and contribute in a team environment.

• Issues reports in verbal and written formats in a timely fashion and at specified intervals.

• Handles multiple assignments and coordinates with others.

• Assists in the maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment.

• Develops proficiency in communication skills within functional unit.

• Able to independently operate the primary equipment within their functional area including basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.

• Knowledgeable in the operation of analytical instrumentation required for the project.

• Is knowledgeable of hazardous/non-hazardous waste generation practices.

• Is knowledgeable of intra-plant hazardous/non-hazardous waste transportation practices.

• Evaluates materials for compliance to standards and specifications.

• Maintains legible, neat and organized laboratory records.

• Familiar with SAP and laboratory procurements like chemicals, glassware and instruments

 

Key Job Responsibility 2: R&D Project Management and Service Requests

• Provide technical and hands-on support for plant operations and customers as required.

• Carry out special projects in support of manufacturing as directed by R&D Management

• Work with plant to complete assigned technical work request

• Provide support to complete local Analytical work request

• Lab items procurement

 

Key Job Responsibility 3: Maintain Compliance

• Adhere to company EH&S regulations, SI Group Responsible Care practices and ISO 9000,180001 & 450001 programs.

• IATF Audit support to Lote team

• Works with supervision to ensure data integrity and verify that their work is correct.

• Maintains established quality control documentation.

• Accomplishes all EHS training requirements in accordance with their scheduling.

• Knowledgeable of hazardous/non-hazardous waste generation practices.

• Awareness of intra-plant hazardous/non-hazardous waste transportation practices.

• Evaluates materials for compliance to standards and specifications.

Discharge duties in accordance with SI Group’s Quality policy. Within job scope, ensure the implementation of compliance programs for all federal, state and local regulations covering employee health, safety security and the environment. Adhere to SI Group’s Integrated Management System, company policies, EHSS requirements, Responsible Care practices and ISO 9000 programs.

Perform any additional duties as assigned by Manager

· Bachler of Science degree in chemistry and 8 years of experience, or MSc degree in chemistry or polymer science and 6 years of experience.

· Phenolic resin chemistry synthesis knowledge and experience preferred.
