The Role:
The Buyer is responsible for supporting the transactional procurement activity, currently managed by an external partner, for the supply of direct materials to the regional manufacturing/partner locations in line with business requirements and commercial concepts and guidelines. He/She is responsible for the agreement execution of supplies of his/her categories/products (services, management, repair and maintenance material and equipment: equipment: energy etc) in line with business requirement and commercial concepts and guidelines. He/she supports and leads some supplier negotiations, manages supplier relationships, supports VMQ process for vendor onboarding, ensures supplier code of conduct & compliance to requirements using QM systems for all activities involved and lives up to SI Group’s global brand promise and values.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Key Job Responsibility 1: Procurement
· Executes Direct and or Indirect procurement with high quality “right product in right packaging in right quantity at right time at right place with right price in right quality with right documentation” principles.
· Supports SI Group’s external partner in managing transactional PO activity with suppliers.
· Supports Category Managers in developing and implementing sourcing strategies.
· Responsible for executing Procurement policies and operational models such as (identification of needs; facilitation of PO approvals; creation and management of urgent purchase orders; support for goods receipt; manage contracts and performance metrics; client issue resolution; fulfilment of supplier allocation guidelines).
· Ensures ERP processes & data standards are being adhered.
· Supports Accounts Payable process in coordination with our external partner and Finance team.
Key Job Responsibility 2: Inventory Management
· Supports the Scheduler in executing inventory mgt processes and achieving inventory targets.
· Participation as required in SIOP process; MRP process; inventory budget/target setting process)
· Verifies with Master Planner mid/long term supply requirements.
Key Job Responsibility 3: Tactical Supplier Relationship Management
· Executes on Supplier Relationship Management processes as per guidelines of Category Managers (supplier implementation/ onboarding; monitoring suppliers via KPI’s/scorecards; auditing suppliers; perform supplier stratification/classification; conduct supplier support e.g. linking suppliers with operations; support contract changes)
Key Job Responsibility 4: Other responsibilities
· Supporting continuous improvement in a prioritized way in cooperation with the Category Managers (including KPI management)
· Monitors contract adherence with respect to quantity, pricing and rebate thresholds
· Keeps category manager and quality manager informed of supplier performance
· Supporting further projects and site activities as required
· Backup of colleagues
Discharge duties in accordance with SI Group’s Quality policy. Within job scope, ensure the implementation of compliance programs for all federal, state, and local regulations covering employee health, safety security and the environment. Adhere to SI Group’s Integrated Management System, company policies, EHSS requirements, Responsible Care practices and ISO 9000 programs.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by Manager
Creating Extraordinary Starts With:
· Associates/Bachelors degree, in business, science or technical field a plus
· 10+ years relevant experience,
· Familiarity with chemicals , MRP and e-procurement tools a plus
· Familiarity with site manufacturing and services
· Excel, PPT and SAP skills
· ISO/RC/IATF Documentation
· Some weekend and holiday work required
· Readiness to work longer hours in peak times
· Travel domestically <30%
